Not much else to say here...
Whenver I reconnect to an SSL connection, I get this error: * Connection failed. Error: certificate not trusted.? (27) I have to quit the application and start again for it to connect using SSL.
Can’t get it to run on OS X 10.9, crash on start, herd reports that Apple is not accepting the update from the developer Just sent to Apple about 20 crash reports
From what I can tell, it works fine now on 10.9. Wish the developers would mention that and remove the broken link. Everything is working as it should, good program to connect to IRC servers. Thanks.
Go ahead and buy it! Whatever the problems were, they haven’t crashed my Macs runing Mavericks 10.9.1. This is a great chat client — lightweight, stable and very fast, with no detectable latency on my machines. I’m witholding a fifth star only because setup is less than obvious to occasional chatters like me. I suggest you consult the Wiki for TWIT or for CORDKILLERS if you want a step-by-step setup guide for either of these networks.
Apple should really allow the updated version to be put on the app store. This things has been crashing on me lots!
Every time you scroll in the chat windows it seems to re-render the text, half time time becoming completely blurry and hurting my eyes. Text has this auto spell correct that seems to come in afterwards.
I have installed XChat Azure version 1.16.2 on my new Mac mini (OS X 10.9.3) and it seems to be working fine without any issues. I was waiting to install this app because of the warning in the app summary about Apple not allowing the new version. But, that warning has disappeared and this new version seems to be working as advertised on Mavericks. The reason I waited this long was because I had used XChat on Linux for years and was willing to wait to get the best experience. Now I’m glad I waited. Check it out, it’s a great IRC client.. and you can’t beat the price!
I’ve never seen someone turn xchat’s codebase into something so awful. Here’s a list of just a few problems: - The Channels Tab bar runs off the end of the window and wraps around down into the viewport preventing access to some widgets. - When the Tab Switcher is turned on it forces the text entry box off the bottom of the viewport. - Notices vanish into the ether without being displayed anywhere. - You can add “favorites” to a list in the server settings but the UI doesn’t expose any method to join those channels. - Sometimes you can’t close windows in the Tree switcher view and it seems to be arbitrary which ones. - Putting your password into the Nickserv password box doesn’t make the client send the password to Nickserv on connect. - If a window is undocked you can’t access the menu bar because it wiggles up and down incessantly. - Channel invites also disappear into the ether. They just aren’t displayed anywhere. - There doesn’t seem to be any way to view channel modes and they aren’t shown when you join a channel. I could go on and on.
In the latest upgrade I noticed the python plugins stopped working. Why has the python plugin support been dropped?
I’ve been using this as my go to IRC client for quite a while now, both on Mavericks and on Yosemite. It’s been great! It’s performed just as well as the Xchat for Linux that I was used to. I use it across multiple servers with multiple chat rooms open and it never misses a beat. And while I also love Colloquy on Mac, I find this is much more useful if you’re a channel admin or IRCOP. Give it a shot, if you liked Xchat on Linux or Windows, you’ll like XchatAzure on Mac.
Crashes constantly, Been using it for a while and it has hiccups with reloading scrollback
This version appears to be working well.
The title says it all.
Attempts to use SSLv3, which is insecure and not supported by most servers. Otherwise it works great.
Each morning when I reconnect my VPN, Xchat crashes as it reconnects to the server. Started happening with latest update.
Theres really nothing nice to say about this application. I havent been able to use it because each time I click the icon to launch it, it crashes and a box opens to ask should I reopen it. So developer(s) maybe you need to go back to the draw board and try again.
This was good software until the current dev became hellbent on distributing it through the appstore rather than traditional means. Adding it to the appstore meant adhering to Apples "guidelines", which effectively strip down fully functional computer software, into measly sub-par, semi-functional "apps". Before this abomination took hold, X-Chat Aqua was decent software; rather than fixing up the codebase and bringing it on par with Linux/Windows, we have this. The app sandboxing reduces all plugin functionality to moot, what is the point of having Python/Perl plugins when 98% of the system remains inaccessible? The last usable, reliable, stable release is Aqua 0.17.3 from 3 years ago, without the disgusting restrictions; the last time X-Chat could be called "software", not an "app"... Atleast fork the project to have a functional build without the ridiculous policies, or are we just waiting for Hexchat to make this completely obsolete? Dont believe me? Go to the Github page and see for yourself how many orders of magnitude better the Aqua version really is.
Developer needs to fix this Crashing problem. Still crashes.
